Season 2007/08

Sunday March 16th 2008

Wokingham & Emmbrook under 16's lost out to Maidenhead Boys in the semi-final of the Berks & Bucks Cup on Sunday. Wokingham took the lead through the impressive Josh Pearson, they held this until four minutes from full time. The two sides could not be separated during the extra time period, With Maidenhead coming out 3-2 winners in the penalty shoot-out. Manager Roger Herridge said, It's always a hard way to lose, and I felt we had done enough in the eighty minutes to have won the game. The boys gave it their all and I could not be more proud of them!

Wokingham & Emmbrook's Under 16 A team continue to fly the flag for the Club in the County Cup by winning through to the semi-finals after a remarkable 2nd half comeback saw them beat Oxford side Botley Boys 3-2 aet.

A poor first half defensive display saw Wokingham trail the Oxon side by 2 goals at the break, but once James Charlton had pulled a goal back early in the 2nd period, Wokingham gradually got into their stride and went onto outplay their opponents. Wokingham's cultured football deservedly got the better of the more direct Botley team and it was no surprise when Tom Justice fired them level from close range.

Botley defended doggedly and took the game into extra time but Wokingham continued to dominate and Josh Pearson grabbed the winning goal midway through the first period of added time.

Wokingham's reward is a semi-final tie away to Maidenhead Boys, with the winner of that tie playing either Burnham or City Colts (Milton Keynes) in the final.

This is the 3rd time in 4 seasons that this side has reached this stage of the competition and they go into the tie confident of reaching the final, which would emulate their achievement when Under 12s.

That final saw the side lose narrowly 1 - 0 to Dynamos (Bracknell).
